Johnston provides us with laughs and tears over the years

Johnston, having written for what seems to be a lifetime already, continues the story of the loveable "For Better or For Worse" family that many countries have come to love and treasure. One of the only 'real' families in comics, Johnston cleverly and eloquently mixes pain and laughter --- succinctly paraphrasing much of life.
"What, Me Pregnant?" is another chapter of the "For Better or For Worse" saga, with Elly finding herself pregnant... at 40! Her other kids in high school and preparing to go to college, this is unexpected and delightful for the fans of the series. This book tracks Elly's pregnancy and continues the personal tales of the other family members as they grow up -- and grow older. A wonderful book that will have you glued to the pages until the end.

About the Author
Ben Winston (1965 - ?) was born in Iowa and grew up in Minnesota on the family dairy farm. Upon reaching adulthood, he joined the United States Army as a communications technician. Before getting out of the military, he decided to go to school for computer electronics. Shortly after getting out of the military, and after getting a new job with an over-seas company, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. A month after beginning the new job, he was laid off due to budget over-runs on the project he was hired for. Upon returning to the United States, he had difficulty maintaining employment because of the chronic illness. He began writing as a form of stress release, from being home bound and not being able to work, and found he liked writing erotica. Ben wrote a trilogy called the Talosian Chronicles (Currently in rewrite to remove the graphic sex and finalized his vision of the story). The first book, Star Dancer, won awards and was nominated for many others by the online communities where it was posted. Ben Winston returned to school for literature, after completion, he began writing professionally. Being an avid fan of science fiction he focused on this genre. He was, and still is, influenced and inspired by Gene Roddenberry, Anne McCaffery, David Weber, Isaac Asimov, and Ray Bradbury. Some of his favorite movies and TV shows are; Battlestar Galactica (both versions), Andromeda, Star Trek, Firefly, Star Wars, and many of the B-rated movies that were actually box-office bombs.

Awesome book. I also have the 3rd edition and use ut daily. Quite disappointing there is quite alot of editing mistakes. 4 or 5 words running into eachother and a little hard to read if your consistently using as a quick reference.
This really needs to be fixed.
They go into depth about the oils and healing which will serve us tremendously. Looking forward to purchasing more Essential Oils

Clear and thorough!

This book is very clear for the novice and thorough for the experienced essential oil user. What I really like is that oils like Melaleuca for example do provide emotional support but people really only talk about first aid uses. I will refer to this book again and again. I highly recommend this book!

Flawed

The library I work at has bought every installment in the "Cream" series. This fifth volume follows the same premise as the other books, but the execution of the book physically is so impractical! The pages are delicate loose leaf inside of a very flimsy paper folder. And there's a thin strip of information in a "half dust jacket" over the folder. I'm sure artistically the book works but physically it is a mess. Somewhere between artistry and bookbinding the design of this book took a turn for the worse. Maybe after I have sent this book off to the bindery and received it again, maybe then I can finally enjoy this book. Until then it sits on the shelf for books that need to be bound. It's ridiculous! Why should I have to pay for bindery fees just to enjoy a book??? And don't get me wrong, I understand books that were meant to be art and handled delicately and enjoyed for aesthetic value. But, even when I handled this book delicately, it started to fall apart in my hands. That's just lousy! What this book needs is: quality, sturdy paper, a strong, cardboard cover, and the information on the half dust jacket printed on the cover. What's really weird is the pages are printed and folded like a magazine!!! They should have published the book as a magazine if they wanted to go in that direction. But, again, bind it like a real book or a real magazine. Ugh!

Good contents, The Worst presentation.

I have my own copy, and about an hour after being received but carefully handled, it tore apart. Amazingly, the worst presentation I have ever seen for a book, even a magazine. Contents are good, good pictures, but come on... Think twice before purchase your own..

This is a MUST read!

If you are going to read only one book this year, read this one!

I have been a Christian for most of my life. This book changed the way I looked at a lot of things. The way Glory is explained was profound to me. For the first time I got it why so many people struggle with addiction and spend a life time pursuing things that cannot truly satisfy them. The description of Grace should be taught in every Bible-believing church. It has been my observation that this is too often misunderstood.

I have given over 4 dozen copies of this book away to friends, family and coworkers. I sent a copy to someone in prison, someone in a drug rehab and many who probably should be in a drug or alcohol rehab.

This is a concise, quick read, and page for page offers some of the most profound, potentially life-changing insight of any book I have read. Whether you are a seasoned Christian, someone exploring God or someone who cannot seem to find satisfaction in life, this book is a must read. Enjoy!

So what is the question

Everyday I talk to people who are perplexed by the challenges that they face in life. They lack insight and as life has gotten more complex their frustrations and fears mount. This book, so short that even men are reading it in large numbers, answers some of the basic questions of life.

The Answer focuses on three fundamental truths of life so often overlooked. These truths are summarized as, Glory, Grace and Truth. As Randy Pope unpacks these words in a fresh and interesting way you will come to an understanding that could dramatically change your life. You will come to see that there really are reasonable and truthful answers to your questions.

I know the author and I can tell you he has captured in this book, answers that will absolutely make you think deeper about the one thing that we are consumed with, how can I have satisfaction in life? Read this book and in addition to answering your questions, it will give you the confidence to speak to the fears and questions that your friends have in their lives. Give this book to others and they may very well find answers to the question of how they too can find life satisfaction.

Arthur's Mystery Envelope concerns the young aardvark's curiosity and anxiety when the principal gives him an envelope to take home marked "PRIVATE and CONFIDENTIAL." His desire to be honest is tempered by his fear of negative consequences as he wrestles with the dilemma of whether to deliver the envelope or to "lose" it. The reading level of these books is problematic: the vocabulary exceeds that of average third graders, yet the audience of the Arthur show is usually much younger. Examining censorship

Arthur and the gang are not-so-patiently waiting for the next installment in the Scare-Your-Pants-Off Book club. They’ve read all the others in the series, like “Curse of the Mummy’s Breath” and “Zombie Substitute Teacher” and can’t wait for the next one to come out.
The day it’s due to arrive at the library, the gang is poised, having all but camped out overnight to be the first in line to check it out and read it. You can imagine their surprise when they find out that it has been banned from the public library! A group of concerned parents have decided that it’s not appropriate for children and to have had it removed! What’s the gang to do? Is there any way Arthur and his friends can get the book back so everyone can enjoy it? A surprise ending is in store for the reader, making this a fun page-turner.
Marc Brown’s Arthur is one of the best-known characters in children’s literature today. He’s seen on television, has large format picture books and also the Arthur Adventure series, of which this title is #2. Intended for intermediate, independent readers who have graduated to short chapter books, the Arthur books are easy to read, a lot of fun, and encourage readers to think about their world and the different issues of friendship, family or in the case of “Scare-Your-Pants-Off Club”, censorship....
I have used “Scare-Your-Pants-Off Club” in my own classroom many times and found that it’s a great way to stimulate conversation and thinking among my students (one cryptically hinted that maybe we should ban THIS book as well!!). My point in using it as a social studies tool isn’t to agree or disagree with students so much as it is to get them to THINK—- “tell me your feelings about censorship, but back it up with reasoning and research” is how I address the issue. This in turn allows the student not only to voice their own opinion, but to examine their feelings and opinions as well; too many times in our culture we allow other folks to do our thinking for us.
Mr. Brown has done an excellent job of taking a very complicated issue in our society and presenting it to young readers in an understandable and intelligent way. I appreciate and applaud authors who not only aim to entertain their readers, but encourage them to think about themselves and their world. Hats off, Mr. Brown!! You’ve done it again!!

Powerful Story About Censorship

This second Arthur TV Chapter Book is an insightful look at attempts to censor literature read by children. Adapted by Stephen Krensky, based on a TV Story by Terence Taylor, "Arthur and the Scare-Your-Pants-Off Club" finds the kids of Elwood City shocked.

They've been waiting eagerly outside the library on a Saturday for the newest release in their favorite book series, "The Scare-Your-Pants-Off Club." Just when they think they're about to get the new book, the librarian Ms. Paige Turner appears with a startling announcement --- due to concerns by a parents group called P.A.W.S., all books in the series have been pulled from the library shelves.

After a discussion of past times that they wanted something and didn't give up, Arthur and his friends formulate a plan of action. They get to work, but will their efforts be enough to return the books to the shelves? And just what does this P.A.W.S. group have against these books anyway?

This book was released in 1998 and the "Scare-Your-Pants-Off" books largely resemble the "Goosebumps" series by R.L. Stine. But readers will most likely be reminded of the fervor of fans of the "Harry Potter" series and the attempts that have been made to censor it. Regardless of where the reader might stand, this book has strong lessons about standing up for what you believe in and taking the time to know all the facts before making any decisions.

About the Author
Mark A. Gluck is a Professor of Neuroscience at Rutgers University–Newark, co-director of the Memory Disorders Project at Rutgers–Newark, and publisher of the project’s public health newsletter, Memory Loss and the Brain.� His research focuses on the neural bases of learning and memory, and the consequences of memory loss due to aging, trauma, and disease.� He is co-author of Gateway to Memory: An Introduction to Neural Network Modeling of the Hippocampus and Learning (MIT Press, 2001).� In 1996, he was awarded an NSF Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers by President Bill Clinton. That same year, he received the American Psychological Association (APA) Distinguish Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology.�Eduardo Mercado is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at University at Buffalo, The State University of New York.� His research focuses on how different brain systems interact to develop representations of experienced events, and how these representations change over time.� Dr. Mercado currently uses techniques from experimental psychology, computational neuroscience, electrical engineering, and behavioral neuroscience to explore questions about auditory learning and memory in rodents, cetaceans, and humans.Catherine E. Myers is a Research Scientist with the Department of Veterans Affairs, New Jersey Health Care System, and a Professor in the department of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Neuroscience at the New Jersey Medical School, Rutgers University.　 Her research includes both computational neuroscience and experimental psychology, and focuses on human learning and memory, especially in clinical disorders such as amnesia and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).　 She is co-author of Gateway to Memory: An Introduction to Neural Network Modeling of the Hippocampus and Learning　(MIT Press, 2001) and author of Delay Learning in Artificial Neural Networks (Chapman and Hall, 1992).
