A look is taken at these artists’ tautological claim to producing visual art, the mystification of their practice and the establishing of brand names. Exploring issues that all art is inscribed in, we arrive at a situation in art history where the value and the price of art seem to have been conflated.

Van den Brand has diverse experience in the field of contemporary art, working with emerging artists, the Stedelijk Museum Bureau and The Dutch Bank Art Committee. Van den Brand is currently working at Paddle8.

I found that it was challenging to find books about this topic; it is therefore unique in its kind. The book provides a balanced overview of the added value of Tino Seghal's work in relation to contemporary art.
